Florida Housing’s Coronavirus Relief Fund For Impacted Homeowners And Renters

Governor DeSantis has authorized $120 million of the State of Florida’s Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) allocation to Florida Housing Finance Corporation (Florida Housing) to assist Floridians that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and struggling to pay housing expenses such as: rent, mortgage payments, and emergency repairs that will keep families stably and safely housed.

In general, the Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) is a portion of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed by Congress and signed into law by the President in March 2020 in response to the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic. Florida Housing’s CRF Fund for Impacted Homeowners and Renters will be administered by the local State Housing Initiatives Partnership Program (SHIP) housing office in your community. Florida Housing staff are working with the local governments and SHIP Programs in preparation to begin the application process in each community as soon as possible.What to Do Next

What type of assistance is available?
In general, assistance with paying your monthly rent, mortgage payments or emergency repairs that assist a household stay stably and safely housed. Your local SHIP program may offer other allowable uses that benefit
impacted households in their jurisdiction.
Who is eligible to access the Florida Housing’s CRF for Impacted Homeowners and Renters?
Florida households with incomes up to 120% of the area median income that can demonstrate that their incomes have been adversely impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic; and are having difficulty paying for housing
expenses deemed eligible by your local SHIP Program.
How do I know if I meet the income requirements?
Yes. The maximum income is 120% of the area median income (AMI). These income limits for your county of residence are posted on this webpage’s Quick Links.
When will the CRF funding be released?
The funds will be available to each local SHIP Program, upon an execution of a funding administration between Florida Housing and a local SHIP. We expect execution of the agreement may take up to 45 day from July 20,
2020.
How much funding can I receive?
Each local SHIP office will determine the maximum amount of award to any one applicant. This may be based on need, household income and activity (rent assistance, mortgage assistance). In all cases, the assistance can only be provided for costs incurred between March 1 and December 30, 2020.
